Mini FuntanaX

Electric Aerobatic Plane... very cool, made by E-Flite

Certainly my favorite plane so far... and it surprised me. I didn't think I'd like it very well, but man was I wrong. This thing was a blast to fly, and gave me my first completely clean evening of flying! This thing is an aerobatic beast, but still flies incredibly slow and stable. I couldn't believe how smooth it was. It has a huge wing area, and a very light wing loading (being only like 23 ounces fully burdened) so it really glides.

It also very much impressed me in how great it was to build. This kit was MUCH better put together than my other Great Planes model, and I'd highly recommend an E-Flite plane. Much better design... much less overnight gluing required, and vastly better instructions, I think. Maybe actually written by an american! (Say it isn't so!)

Flights

From the RC Flight Log: this plane only has two flight log entries:

Death of the FuntanaX

It's untimely demise was completely stupid and embarassing. I stood there on the field dazed and confused that I had let it happen.

I forgot to raise the antenna on the transmitter. It's as simple as that. Plane goes up... flies about 30 yards... then... just... stops... responding. And not enough time to realize whats going on and correct it. It just augered in... utterly destroyed.

And unlike the other recent planes, replacement parts needed to repair are actually more expensive than a whole new kit. I'll replace it someday as I really liked the way it flies, but I'll have to wait a while to pony up the cash. What an idiot.
